In just a few days the little ghouls and goblins will be all over saying Trick or Treat. If you’re participating here is a list of safety tips for a fun Halloween
Know the correct times for your city – majority of cities are starting around dusk and ending at 8:00 pm – and trick or treating should be for those 12 and under.
Some basic safety tips
- Bring a flashlight or have the kids carry glow sticks
- Make sure to cross the street at corners and take care to look both ways
- If possible use face paint instead of a mask which could obstruct children’s vision
- Always walk on sidewalks or paths – if there are no sidewalks then stay on the left side of the street facing traffic
- Watch for cars that are turning or backing up
- Use reflective tape or wear a light color costume
- If you’re driving SLOW DOWN in residential neighborhoods. Children will be excited and may accidentally dart into traffic
- Don’t cut across yards or driveways
- Don’t eat any open candy or treats – wait until you get home and examine everything
