2018 Free Summer Concerts in Hampton Roads

The 757 is always full of music entertainment, but did you know how many events are free to the public during the summer? 

Below are some cool opportunities for some hot days and nights. You can always check out your favorite brewery, restaurant, or distillery for their live music line-ups. That is a great way to support local and maybe hear someone new.

Yorktown

Thursdays through August 4th, chill next to the river during Yorktown Sounds of Summer at Riverwalk.

On Sundays through August 26th, take some time to enjoy music at the Celebrate Yorktown Committee Summer Concert Series.

Williamsburg

Through September, you can enjoy great, live music at Colonial Williamsburg Merchants Square during theSummer Breeze Concert Series.

Virginia Beach

The Oceanfront is ripe with various bands throughout the week all summer long. Check out the options at all of the different stages.

Select Tuesday nights, find yourself at the Oceanfront for Neptune’s Park 31st Street Oceanfront Concerts Series.

Another great opportunity for live music is Ynot Wednesdays at the Virginia Beach Town Center. This event runs through the end of August.

July through August, you can chill listening to live music during the Commonwealth ViBez during certain Saturdays in the month happening in the ViBe district at the beach.

July through September, you have many options to hear a beautiful symphony at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The Virginia Symphony Orchestra hosts Symphony Under the Sea as well as Symphony Under the Stars different days.

August 24th and 25th, you can get funky for free at the Oceanfront during the Virginia Beach Funkfest Beach Party.

End your summer at the beach during the American Music Festival. Okay, okay, this event isn’t totally free, but if you scroll down on their website, you will see a few stages with free live music offered.

Suffolk

Take advantage of the Friday night line-up during the TGIF Summer Concert Series.

Norfolk

If Latin music makes you sway, you’ll want to head to Town Point Park on July 28th for the 18th Annual Norfolk Latin Music Festival.

On July 29th, Town Point Park will host the Virginia Symphony Orchestra Concert in the Park with The Music of Elton John.

July through August, you can head to Ocean View Beach Park for the TGOV Summer Concert Series.

July through the start of September, you can also enjoy the series Big Bands on the Bay at Ocean View Beach Park.

Once a month, Norfolk offers First Fridays with live entertainment (through October).

Portsmouth

Every Thursday through the summer, Portsmouth offers live music at High Street Landing during Sunset Thursdays.

Summer also offers First Friday Concerts in The Courtyard Series in P-town.

The 48th Annual Seawall Art Show happening August 25th and 26th is a great way to hear live entertainment while looking at local art.

Newport News

Wednesday nights, make your way to the VHS Summer Concert Series at Port Warwick.

The City Center at Oyster Point is the place to be on Friday nights through the summer during Rock the Row Fridays.

On August 4th, you can enjoy various international shows during the World Arts Celebration at City Center at Oyster Point.

Hampton

Tuesdays through August 28th, hear tunes at the PTC’s Summer Concert Series.

Through August 25th, you can enjoy free, live music at the Downtown Hampton Block Party on Saturdays.

Spend your Sundays Groovin’ by the Bay through the summer.

Ft. Monroe

On Thursday evenings, you can catch Music By The Bay Summer Concerts at Ft. Monroe.

Jamestown

On July 27th, enjoy the Jamestown Jams Concert at Jamestown Beach.

Chesapeake

Every Thursday through the end of August, you can enjoy the Towne Place at Greenbrier 2018 Free Summer Concert Series.
