Kelly Gillerlain, a REALTOR® in the Harbour View office has received her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Regent University.
Dr. Gillerlain is not only a real estate agent but also a professor at Tidewater Community College in Chesapeake teaching many courses in business including management, marketing and various other courses. While many might consider it a strange combination of careers, Dr. Gillerlain believes that her remaining an active real estate agent helps her students in the classroom.
“I’m able to bring in real world examples for my students. My real estate career is a way for me to stand out from my educational peers because while many of them just live in an academic world I see the real world applications of the theories and lessons I go over,” says Dr. Gillerlain.
Dr. Gillerlain began her career in real estate while her husband, Jimmy Gillerlain, was an agent to help his business because he was so busy. Once he was promoted to Managing Broker she became a referral agent but saw the benefits of remaining active.
